I find myself logging online again to jump into friends games (made easier with their new launch app). Overall Review: Overall, a massive improvement from the original Diablo 3 video game- in fact, you could say this is what the game should have been from day 1. You do get to explore the backstory of your followers and other surviving characters from the previous acts Act 5 wasn't exactly rife with story and didn't offer much variety from the other 4 acts. Adventure mode is the #1 big story, as randomized quests means you're never playing repetitively through story mode anymoreĬons: -This is a very pricey expansion, particularly as the original game also received the loot 2.0 system (albeit no adventure mode and no act 5) Still my favorite game to just hop online to just casually hop online and join friend's open quests Underutilized assets from the original game has been beefed up, with the mystic now allowing you to re-roll item affixes and the blacksmith having an expanded repertoire of legendary and set items you can craft crossbow with dexterity and critical hit damage) and some pretty snazzy gear is now available for grabs Now that the auction house has been removed and legendaries/set items drop more often, it's not as frustrating. Pros: -Loot 2.0 is much better than the original game, which was frustrating in that it was difficult to get rare loot and loot that made sense- a crossbow with witch doctor abilites?-, meaning you had to troll the auction house.
You can't even give us an "inventory manager" screen that lets us swap items between characters? This is 2014, not 2001. That's just a personal beef because I hate wasting time deleting characters to make new ones, endlessly shuffling items between mules, stash, etc. I think it's sad that they tell us "sorry we can't store an extra 5 toons each and we can't even give them to you for $3 each or anything." Who are they fooling? The RMAH covered Blizzard's shareholders, money-grabbers, and other costs plenty. Overall Review: And of course, I hate that there are such strict limitations on number of characters and stash size. I get that and I like it, but for casual or low-level gamers or people looking for a different experience, the development didn't even spring for real cut-scenes! Just 2D still illustrations with narration. Most of Diablo 3 revolves around the grind for gear, infernal machines, uber-bosses, etc. The adventure mode is great, the quests in act five are about 1/4 as much fine as the other four (so, right on par).ĭiablo 3 is the successor to the Diablo 2 we all remember and enjoyed, and despite lots of issues out-of-the-gate and some time settling down into a truly playable game, it hasn't really disappointed as much as detractors would have you believe.Ĭons: The game could really use more diversity - more unique dungeons, more side-quests, if you think about other games, there is often much more to do (regardless of whether they are sandbox like Skyrim or non-sandbox like Diablo 3). But Blizzard takes the easiest route, not the best one, and instead of trying to clean up the game's economy (real money or just gold), they nix the whole thing. The auction house was nice - I think the real issue was how much junk was circulating in the auction house.
